Blasted Planet - Volcano Terrain

VOLCANO

I have this cool GW Battle Mat with a green side and a black side. The green side is obviously the side that is intended to be used while gaming. But, after admiring the green side for a bit I decided to flip it over.

“What a really cool Blasted Planet-looking surface!” I thought. It brought to mind gouts of black ash falling from a swirling orange sky, poisonous vapors choking all but the hardiest of life, and ground rolling a buckling beneath the feet of the opposing armies.

Sculpting Tools and Tips

McRibs

Recently I’ve noticed that I have acquired a pretty good collection of tools that I use for sculpting green stuff.  I’m no great sculptor, but I have found that having certain tools at your disposal can up your game some.  Be warned, all of these techniques take some practice but without the tools, you will have a much harder time achieving the effect.  Much of this info can be picked up from other, more in-depth, tutorials but I figured a small compendium of what I’ve found useful might help my fellow gamers/sculptors.

Plastic Knives into Giant Scary Swords

My Defiler kit bash had a problem: it was bringing two knives (each a former chainsword) to a space-aged gun fight.  The knife in the right hand I was good with, I think it had the proper look and feel.  The one in the left hand?  Not so much.
