Good News: v2 Tentacle Makers! (and bad: Delays)

In trying to bring GSI to the next level, I've invested in having injection molds for the Tentacle Makers made.  That is happening right now and but for one technical hurdle, I thought I'd be swimming in product by the end of this month.  But, Murphy's Law has bitten me in the ass... again.

So here is some information I'd like to convey about the present situation...

  1. Everyone who currently has open orders for Tentacle Makers will get v2 product and they will be refunded the price difference upon shipment.
  2. Sale of Tentacle Makers has been suspended until v2 is ready.  I have 20+ folks waiting right now (some for more than a month) and it's really starting to stress me out.  That is not how I want to do business.
  3. If your order is still open, i.e. hasn't been shipped, and you're fed up with waiting, I'm happy to give you a full refund.  Just forward me a copy of your Paypal email receipt (to the address below) and put "Please Refund" in the subject line.
  4. If you want to order a set of v2 Tentacle Makers, shoot me an email with "Release Notification List" in the subject and I'll add you to the mass mailing when they are ready.  Which should be no more than a month away.

Lastly, I would like to thank all of you who still have open orders with GSI for your patience and understanding.  I ask that you bear with me just a little longer.

Thanks Again,
Rich K. (Novus)

NEW!:  To contact GSI visit the new GSI Contact Page, select Release Notification List in the dropdown, write a short note, and click the Submit button at the bottom.  If you are looking to get a refund, please forward your Paypal receipt email to me (tentaclemaker(at)gmail(dot)come) and I'll process it within 24 hours.

Customer Creation! Awesome Tech Marine/Librarian!

This is the stunning finished product of a WIP photo I added to the Gallery a couple of weeks ago by v1ct0ry88. Great painting and conversion skills here!

Hopefully, he can submit some tutorials soon, as well.  Impressive work, sir!

Spikey Bits Gives Tentacle Makers a Shout Out!

A short video by MBG over at Spikey Bits showing off his Chaos Centurion Conversion.  They are a Space Marine Iron Warriors army counting as CSM.  Great work using both pewter cables and Tentacle Maker tubes.  I can't wait to see them painted!

Magnetizing a Heldrake - Part 2 - The Wings

by Novus

I'm headed to the Las Vegas Open in about 2 weeks.  My first out of state tournament and I'm getting my army completely painted (finally) and ready for transport.  One thing that I'm really trying to do is compact my army for the trip.  But, the way a GW Heldrake is built, sort of a wide inverted-V with lots of easily broken fiddly bits, makes this difficult.  My Helbug breaks down really nicely (wings and carapace fold/come off) and I want to duplicate that functionality.  So, this is how I made my 2nd Heldrake (yes, I'm one step closer to being "that guy") take up less space in the army case.

Badger SOTAR 20/20 Product Review

by Novus

Someone on 40k For Grown Ups (a great Facebook group I belong to) linked the group to Amazon where Badger SOTAR 20/20's were being sold for $59.99.  To be honest, I didn't have much faith in a product that has an MSRP of over $400 and is being sold at an 85% discount, but I needed another airbrush to replace the one I accidentally threw away (never mount your airbrush holder over a trashcan).  At that price, I was willing to take the risk.

Farewell to the Old Bugs! Double Header Bat Rep!

Wednesday I got a friendly game (second game in the video) in against Geoff “InControl” Robinson over at Frontline.  The video is part of two games Geoff played against Frankie and his Deldar and then me and my Chaos/IG.  I had a run of crappy rolling: min rolls and a scatter off the table for my Manticore rockets, Night Fight didn't help, and I failed quite a few saves I should have made (how does my Biker lord get wounded by an exploding tank?  WTF?!?).

I did also have small streaks of good luck: my Helbug grounded his Flyrant and then the Quad finished it off, my Biker lord Murdered the Doom, my Termies lasted far longer than they should have (which was not such a good thing, in hindsight, as the Swarmlord was at normal strength due to a perils.  I could have scored a Slay the Warlord for that one).

I have to say, I'm not sad the Doom is doomed.  It would have been a much closer game had that unit not been part of his army.  Though, the Murder Sword works pretty damned well against him.  I included the Murder Sword in my build just to try it out and it does have its uses.  Very specific uses, mind you.

Also, I'm switching out the Termies (though I love them) for a second Heldrake for the LVO.  Hopefully, that will help me not get walked on in every game I play.  It also frees up some points for some other fun upgrades.

It was a fine game and I did better than expected.  I played well but the dice were generally against me... what can you do?  Good luck at the T-Shift Open, guys!
