Back From LVO 2017

by Novus

My posting has been few and far between lately.  Mostly because any spare time I had was spent either getting my fleet painted for Dropfleet at LVO or getting product ready for the long drive and subsequent marathon that is the LVO.

Dropzone Commander Bat Rep from Derek - Shout Out To GSI!

Derek and Jordan fight it out in one of the new Reconquest: Phase 2 missions and test some of the newer units to boot!

Derek also shows off the Structure Damage Counters GSI now offers.  Apparently, he likes them!

Dropzone Commander Battle Report #29 - 1000 PHR vs. Resistance - Targets of Opportunity

Cameron Blume and I battled it out at Endgame in Oakland, CA back in late June (early July?).  Now that he's a Bay Area resident he came by one of our DzC Saturday events and we ran through a 1000 point game of Targets.  It was a close (and) bloody game!

Fires of Eden - Dropzone Campaign

by Novus

I attended the first round of the Endgame of Oakland 2016 Dropzone Campaign on March, 5th and had a blast! The campaign uses the Wargame Developments Matrix system to generate things like match-ups and overall storyline. Mike (the GM), Stephen (Co-GM), Chris, and Kyle also added things like Commander leveling (Kyle), weather mapping (which we didn't use this time), and the overall map of the region on Eden (Chris).

DzC Scenario Day - Rescue at Dunkirk, Eden Prime

by Novus

Endgame, my FLGS, has a Dropzone Commander day on the first Saturday of every month. Usually there is some event planned, like a tournament or a campaign day. But, this month nothing was scheduled and we were only about 8 days out. Mike, of Endgame, and Steve, a local player and formerly of Endgame, put the call out for ideas. I spoke up with an idea that has been in my mental system tray for a few months: a Dunkirk-style rescue scenario. Mike told me to run with it and here’s what happened.

Emulating Shaltnanigans - Part the Second

The Scourge Leviathan!

Last week I attended the EndGame Dropzone Commander Campaign, LEVIATHAN!  As its economy is based on Intel, I had high hopes of being able to put some of the theories I put forward on collecting Intel and Objectives in DzC to the test (see Emulating Shaltari Shenanigans... Sort Of). Luckily, both missions I was part of focused on collecting I/O.  Although the first was a rural map, I was able to adapt somewhat successfully.

Dropzone Tournament - EndGame in Oakland, CA

by Novus

This last weekend I attended the Spring Dropzone Commander tournament at EndGame in Oakland, California. The tournament was full, but one of the EndGame employees, Steve, did me a huge favor by giving me his reservation at the last minute. Thanks, Steve!

LVO 2015 Dropzone Game 7 - Bat Rep

Cameron Blume and I played against each other in our seventh round at the LVO DzC tournament.  It was a fencing match of a game!  Congratulations on placing 3rd, Cameron!

Back From The Las Vegas Open

This was my second time attending the LVO and this time Green Stuff Industries not only played in the Dropzone Commander event (me), but had a vendor booth (my wife), as well!

Dropzone Bat Rep: UCM vs PHR

I take my newly (nearly completely) painted PHR army out against Reecius' UCM in this exciting game played on the new Urban Zone F.A.T. Mat, specifically designed for DzC!  Also, check out GSI's Destroyed Building Markers that Reece puts to good use during the game!

I got a game of Dropzone in with Reece over at Frontline Gaming last night (game parameters below) and we got to parade out our respective new products...

Farewell to the Old Bugs! Double Header Bat Rep!

Wednesday I got a friendly game (second game in the video) in against Geoff “InControl” Robinson over at Frontline.  The video is part of two games Geoff played against Frankie and his Deldar and then me and my Chaos/IG.  I had a run of crappy rolling: min rolls and a scatter off the table for my Manticore rockets, Night Fight didn't help, and I failed quite a few saves I should have made (how does my Biker lord get wounded by an exploding tank?  WTF?!?).

I did also have small streaks of good luck: my Helbug grounded his Flyrant and then the Quad finished it off, my Biker lord Murdered the Doom, my Termies lasted far longer than they should have (which was not such a good thing, in hindsight, as the Swarmlord was at normal strength due to a perils.  I could have scored a Slay the Warlord for that one).

I have to say, I'm not sad the Doom is doomed.  It would have been a much closer game had that unit not been part of his army.  Though, the Murder Sword works pretty damned well against him.  I included the Murder Sword in my build just to try it out and it does have its uses.  Very specific uses, mind you.

Also, I'm switching out the Termies (though I love them) for a second Heldrake for the LVO.  Hopefully, that will help me not get walked on in every game I play.  It also frees up some points for some other fun upgrades.

It was a fine game and I did better than expected.  I played well but the dice were generally against me... what can you do?  Good luck at the T-Shift Open, guys!

I did bring my camera this time.  I did take some pictures.  But, I forgot to take pictures after turn 2.  So, welcome to “Bad Drawing Bat Rep 1 – Daemons vs Chaos Marines/IG!”  Enjoy!

Frontline Gaming Battle Report

This is the first video battle report I've been a part of!  It's a game I had versus my buddy Pascal over at Frontline Gaming a little while ago.

1750pts CSM/D vs CSM/IG.  BAO scenario #5, I think.  Thanks, Pascal!

CSM/IG vs Dark Eldar at 1750

by Novus

Sunday I dropped by Frontline Gaming to see if I could get a game in and oddly, the place was empty but for Frankie.  So, in hopes of getting a game with anyone but Frankie (he's really good and I'm kinda bad) I hung out and got some painting done.

Apoc Game at Frontline – Bat Rep

by Rich K

Last Saturday there was an all-comers Apocalypse game, run by the famed Reece, over at Frontline Gaming.  I saw their bat rep on the last one they held and decided to give Apoc a chance.

Battle Report – 1000pt CSM vs DE – Tourney Test Game!

I don’t do many battle reports because I’m scatter-brained and I forget to take pictures.  I go in with every intention of snapping some shots… I really do.  But when the game starts I completely forget because I’m doing my damnedest to win.  Fortunately, last night my opponent over at Frontline Gaming, Jeremy, was a picture-reminding machine!  I actually took pictures (thanks to him)!  Most of them at the start of each turn!

Three Way

IMG_20120502_203325
One of Keno's damaged Rhinos.
John and Keno and I played an odd three player Kill Point game on Wednesday because we were the only 3 guys at Frontline that had armies handy.  We made up the deployment and seizing rules as we went along.  Turned out to be pretty fun.  We figured the guy in the middle was screwed so we let him deploy last and go first.  The screwed guy ended up being John.  Keno won second.  I got last.

That’s A WIN!

DSCN0030
John Post-game.

I’ve been struggling with my CSM army since the beginning of March.  My record until last night was 0-1-8.  Now, after 9 games of horrible rolling and stupid mistakes, I eked out A FREAKIN’ WIN last night against John and his Wolf Guard over at Frontline.  Unfortunately, not having a sunny outlook about the game caused me not to take any pictures until the end.  So, this will be a wordy battle report of sorts, I’m afraid.
